This Little Light of Mine - May

April 27, 2020 | The Christopher by Fr. William Stanford

“Unprecedented”. “Unparalleled”. “Extraordinary”. These are some of the words used in describing this time of self-isolation, physical distancing, and stress being experienced by the health care community, first responders, businesses, and the general population…of the world.

All of this is due to a tiny infectious agent called SARS-CoV-2. It is a virus, which is a strand of genetic material surrounded by a protein coat and sometimes, as is the case with SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus), a layer of lipids, or fat molecules. A thousand or so could span the width of a human hair. It is debated whether viruses are even alive. They don’t reproduce by themselves. They don’t eat anything. All they do is hijack living cells to generate copy after copy of themselves.

And they are very good at what they do.

There is a method behind my madness in re-presenting this information you probably already know. Given these facts about a virus, its simplicity, its infinitesimal size, and purity of purpose, what would happen if we who follow Christ became simple, small, and pure of purpose in replicating love?
What would that pandemic look like?

    I wonder…

    Yours in Christ,
    Fr. Bill+
