To Know Christ and Make Him Known
Our Ministries
There are many opportunities at St. Christopher to be involved in God's work. Following is a brief
description of the ministries at St. Christopher. If you would like to find out more, please
contact
the church office.

Acolytes are young persons and adults who serve God by assisting the clergy during worship
services.

Adult Forum/Sunday School includes various topics and presenters.

Administrative Volunteers assist the Parish Secretary with occasional Bulk mailings, assembly
of Monthly Christopher, and stand-in during time off.

Altar Flower Guild arranges flowers for each Sunday service, weddings, funerals and other
special occasions, and also delivers flowers to shut-ins.

Altar Guild teams prepare the church for each worship service by caring for the sanctuary,
vessels, linens and vestments. They also coordinate the seasonal decorations.

Angel Food Ministries allows St. Christopher to help families purchase food wholesale.
Volunteers accepts orders, collect payment, pickup and repackage the food, and distribute the
food to the families.

Bell Choir provides a special music experience for special services and events.

Bereavement Committee assists families when there is a death in the family by providing a
reception before or after the funeral service, or prepares food for the family at their residence.

Bible Study is conducted weekly by several small groups.

Boy Scouts, Troop 40, sponsored by St. Christopher, meets regularly at the church.

Building and Grounds Committee assists the Junior Warden in the evaluation of the physical
condition of Parish buildings and grounds; and assists in the maintenance, repair and upkeep of all
Parish property.

Camping Christophers is a group of St. Christopher families who enjoy Christian fellowship
through RVing and camping.

Children's Worship for those three years through 5th graders offers the Sunday lessons on a
child's level through song and celebration during adult services. Children rejoin their families for
communion.

Christian Education Committee promotes and encourages opportunities for involvement in
Christian Education programs and ministry; and plans, coordinates, and evaluates the total
educational ministry of the Parish to all age groups as presented by the Director of Christian
Education and Youth Director. In absence of either the Director of Christian Education or Youth
Director, the Committee assumes direct responsibility for the duties normally assigned to them.

Choir leads the Parish in the praise of God through music for Sunday services and other
occasions. Adults and youth are welcome.

Coffee Servers prepare and serve coffee and refreshments before, between and after Sunday
services.

Columbarium Committee maintains oversight authority for the Columbarium.

Daughters of the King is a National organization of Episcopal Church women dedicated to
prayer, study and evangelism. Members provide special assistance to the clergy.

Emergency Food Committee prepares food for Parish families in times of need.

Episcopal Church Women bring together the women of the Diocese for the purpose of  
strengthening their spiritual lives, providing learning opportunities and supporting their Christ-
centered service and ministry.

EYC (Episcopal Young Community) is a youth group for high school and middle school who
meet regularly to share their lives with each other and with Christ. Fellowship, worship, study,
and service are part of the program.

Greeters welcome people coming to worship services and invite visitors to sign the Visitor Card..
They give tours of the church, accompany visitors to the coffee hour, and introduce visitors to
members of Parish.

Kitchen Committee maintains and stocks the kitchen with supplies.  

Lay Eucharistic Ministers are licensed by the church to administer the wine at services of Holy
Communion.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors share Holy Communion with our ill and homebound parishioners.

Lay Readers celebrate Morning and Evening Prayer daily in the Chapel and other places as
requested.

Lectors assist the clergy by reading the lessons during worship services.

Luther Bell Ringers ring the Church bells for Sunday and Wednesday services.

Missions, Outreach and Evangelism Committee promotes and encourages opportunities for
involvement in Parish mission, outreach, and evangelism programs and ministry; and structures
and executes community outreach and evangelism programs. This committee coordinates St.
Christopher's support and assistance to Christian Community Assistance, Forth Worth Food
Bank, Union Gospel Mission, and Cornerstone Ministries.

Men’s Breakfast Program is an opportunity for all the men of the parish to meet regularly for  
great food, Christian fellowship, and hear guest speakers from the community.

Neighborhood Network is an outreach to the neighborhood immediately adjacent to St.
Christopher to let the families in the area know that we are their neighbor too.  St. Christopher
support activities that help neighbors get to know neighbors.

Nursery care for infants through three years is available on Sunday mornings and for most parish
activities.

Oblationers are members of the St. Christopher family who volunteer to bring forward the
bread, wine, and water at the offertory for Holy Eucharis
t.

Order of St. Luke the Physician
(OSL) is an international healing order that has a chapter
which meets regularly at St. Christopher. The membership is open to anyone who seeks to
cultivate their God given gifts for the work of healing through prayer, study and service.

Parish Life Committee plans and supports activities that build up Christian fellowship.

Prayer Teams pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing for our family, friends, and
neighbors and for those who are alone.

Prison Ministry brings Christ to persons in prison through visitation and bible study and provides
support and assistance to Texas Re-entry Services.

Reception Committee coordinates parish receptions. The committee plans, gathers and serves
refreshments for these events.

Small Group Socials provide a round robin dinner and fellowship experience that allows
participants to get to become better acquainted in a small group setting.

St Catherine’s Guild provides an opportunity for all women of the parish to meet regularly for
Christian fellowship, study and discussion, and sharing of news and prayer requests.

St. Christopher Preschool is an Episcopal Day School for children 2, 3 and 4 years old.

Stewardship Committee plans and coordinates year-round education in stewardship and planned
giving; conducts the annual Fall All Member Campaign; and coordinates annual Spring time and
talent surveys and follow-up.

Stephen Ministers are members of the Parish who have been trained to give care to others going
through times of stress, confusion and loss.

Telephone Committee help notify members of the Parish of emergency or special events.

Ultreya is the gathering of the Cursillo community within the Parish for renewal and growth in
piety, study, and action.

Ushers greet people as they come to worship, hand out bulletins, take up the offering, assist
people to receive communion, and tidy the pews after each service.

Visitors and Newcomers Committee welcomes and introduces visitors; follows-ups with
visitors to provide information and assistance with membership; and helps newcomers get
involved in Parish programs and ministries.

Wellness Ministries coordinates and sponsors activities for the health and well being of our
parishioners and the community. Activities include, the Parish Nurse, blood drives, Holy Rollers
Rehab classes, and stress management.

Worship, Prayer, and Music Committee assists the Rector in the planning, execution and
evaluation of liturgy and seasonal worship, and educating the parish on matters of worship,
prayer, and music.
